The University of Sussex welcomes applications from outstanding international applicants across the arts and humanities for 10 fully funded Chancellor’s International Research Scholarships.
The University of Sussex is a public research university situated in Falmer, near Brighton in Sussex.[4] The university received its Royal Charter in August 1961,[5] and was a founding member of the 1994 Group of research-intensive universities promoting excellence in research and teaching.
Sussex counts three Nobel Prize winners, 14 Fellows of the Royal Society, six Fellows of the British Academy and a winner of the Crafoord Prize among its faculty. In the latest rankings, the university was placed 62nd in Europe and 140th in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015–16. The Guardian University Guide 2016 placed Sussex 19th in the United Kingdom and the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016 also ranks Sussex 19th. The 2015 Academic Ranking of World Universities placed the university within the top 18-21 in the United Kingdom and in the top 151-200 internationally.

Scholarship inclusions/duration:
The scholarship will cover international fees and provide a stipend. Scholarships are tenable for one year in the first instance, renewable annually for a maximum of 3 years.
Eligibility:
Applicants must apply for a PhD in one of the eligible schools of study at the University of Sussex (see above).
Applicants must be classified as an international fee paying student and able to commence their PhD in September 2017.
Applicants must meet the University’s academic entry requirements and English language requirements.

Applicants will need to complete TWO online applications in order to be considered for a scholarship:
1. Applicants must apply online for a PhD at Sussex. Deadline is 5 January 2017.
2. Applicants must complete a separate online application for the scholarship. Deadline is 19 January 2017.
